Services

We believe your child deserves the best dentistry on the market and it is the backbone of our operation. Here are a list of our Pediatric Dentistry services.

IV Sedation

We provide the option of intravenous sedation to our patients. Many children, who may be very apprehensive, need extensive dental treatment or may have disabilities benefit from this service. We bring in a Board Certified Anesthesiologist to manage your child’s vitals while Dr. Lempert completes all the dental treatment needed, usually in one visit.

Preventive Resin Restorations

When it is discovered that an unsealed tooth groove or fissure may become decayed, a preventive resin restoration is the best procedure to prevent the tooth from needing a filling. This procedure is very similar to a sealant but requires opening the groove a small amount to allow for adhesion and penetration of the fluoride impregnated filling material. Anesthesia is usually not necessary.

Orthodontics

Dr. Gary Saltz has been associated with Dr. Lempert for many years. Both Dr. Saltz and Dr. Lempert believe strongly in interceptive treatment; that is treating children early to allow the permanent teeth to erupt more normally and preventing more extensive tooth movement in the future. However, when comprehensive treatment is needed you can rest assured that results are outstanding.

Oral Prophylaxis

Routine teeth cleaning appointments, every six months, allow the staff Registered Dental Hygienists not only to clean your child’s teeth, but to also review oral home care practices and to make specific recommendations regarding use of dental floss and to improve your child’s tooth brushing and flossing technique. Additionally, Dr. Lempert can check your child for tooth decay, monitor tooth eruption patterns, look for unanticipated other pathology and to recommend orthodontic consultation at the appropriate time.

Sealants

Sealants provide a protective barrier to both primary and permanent teeth. The sooner that these sealants can be applied to erupted teeth the better. Oral fluids, ingested sugars and bacterial exposure to decay prone tooth pits and fissures can cause premature tooth decay. Scientific evidence is very clear that sealants are the best protection available to prevent tooth decay in addition to the application of fluoride and the use of fluoridated water.

Pulpal Treatment

When decay is very deep and enters or nears a tooth’s pulpal tissue, all the bacteria that may have entered the tooth pulp must be removed prior to the placement of a restoration. This procedure is known as a pulpotomy. This procedure allows the primary tooth to be restored so that it is not lost until the permanent successor is ready to erupt.

Restorative Dentistry (Fillings)

When primary or permanent teeth develop dental caries (tooth decay), the decay must be removed and the shape and structure of the tooth must be restored. Dr. Lempert does not use any amalgam (silver fillings) at all. All teeth are restored using the finest quality tooth colored composite resin materials available. During this process, Dr. Lempert practices to the highest quality standards; she uses a rubber dam for restorative procedures whenever possible. The rubber dam isolates the tooth or teeth so that oral contaminants are prevented access to the operating field.

Oral Surgery

Beverly Hills Pediatric Dental Care is proud to be able to offer your children and adolescents the opportunity to evaluate the growth of their jaws and the eruption patterns of the permanent third molars (wisdom teeth). When appropriate, Dr. Lempert will recommend a consultation with our staff Oral Surgeon who can evaluate the position of the third molars and recommend removal when: a) tooth decay is involved; b) the lack of space in the jaw is preventing normal eruption, or 3) when impaction indicates the tooth may never erupt and may become a nidus of future infection.

Nitrous Oxide Analgesia

Most children benefit from the use of nitrous oxide analgesia. This inhaled gas allows the child to be relaxed, while being fully conscious but unaware of what is going on around them. Dr. Lempert is able to perform the needed treatment without worrying about unanticipated child movements as well as being able to perform the treatment expeditiously.
